ABOUT THE ROLE:
As the Field Trainer, you'll be responsible for delivering comprehensive, hands-on training for new and seasonal field staff involved in mosquito control. You'll guide them through daily field operations, safe equipment usage, regulatory compliance, and customer service expectations-all while reinforcing a culture of safety, accuracy, and outdoor readiness.
***Please note the position will be based in Kissimmee with (sometimes significant) travel to Clarke's other Florida locations depending on time of year and number of new hires onboarding.***
When not training others, this position will perform the duties of an Operations Technician.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate onboarding classroom and ongoing field training for new and seasonal field staff
- Deliver instruction on mosquito identification, habitat inspection, larviciding, adulticiding, and sentinel chicken surveillance
- Demonstrate proper use of field equipment including sprayers, GPS units, sampling tools, and service vehicles such as trucks and ATVs
- Ensure trainees understand and follow safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company procedures
- Monitor trainee performance through ride-alongs, assessments, and coaching sessions
- Partner with Supervisors and Control Consultants to align training with operational goals and contract requirements
- Maintain training records and assist in license preparation for state certification exams
- Support seasonal performance check-ins and skills refreshers
- Participate in continuous improvement of training content and delivery methods
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in mosquito control, pest management, aquatics, or related field service strongly preferred
- Prior experience training or mentoring field employees strongly preferred
- Ability to travel, sometimes extensively, to support the needs of the business, typically within the state of Florida
- Valid Driver's License with excellent driving record
- Familiarity with mosquito control operations, including larviciding, adulticiding, and habitat surveillance
- Comfortable working in outdoor environments including heat, rain, and uneven terrain
- Proficient with GPS, handheld devices, smartphones, and digital reporting tools
- Strong communicator with ability to train individuals of varying skill levels
- Able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs and walk long distances in field conditions
- Willing and able to handle and collect blood samples from chickens (training provided)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain required state certifications and licenses within 90 days of hire
- High school diploma or GED required; advanced technical training or associate degree preferred
PAY AND BENEFITS
This is a non-exempt hourly position and the hiring range for this position is expected to be between $20.00 - $22.00.
