EnviroCareer Signs the Armed Forces Covenant

By Richard Ardron Published on January 22

EnviroCareer is proud to announce that we have officially signed the Armed Forces Covenant – a formal pledge showing our support for members of the Armed Forces community and their families.

Signing the Covenant reflects our belief that those who serve, or have served, should be treated fairly when accessing employment and career opportunities.

It also outlines how EnviroCareer will support the Armed Forces community and their families in practical ways – through career guidance, close collaboration with employers, and clear pathways into long-term careers across our sectors.

Our Commitment Through the Covenant

Through our pledge, EnviroCareer commits to:

  • Recognising and promoting the value that serving personnel, reservists, veterans, and military families bring to the workforce
  • Working with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) to raise awareness of suitable employment pathways
  • Championing ex-military talent to employers across our network
  • Providing career guidance to support successful transitions into civilian roles
  • Supporting service families seeking work
  • Encouraging greater understanding of the Armed Forces community within our industry
  • Providing additional support to employers who actively engage with the Armed Forces community. (Please contact us to discuss how we can work together)

Skills and Qualities That Translate Into Our Industry

Employers across our industry place high value on mindset, reliability, and operational capability. These are areas where members of the Armed Forces community consistently stand out.

Service personnel bring skills that translate directly into roles across Public Health and Environmental Science. These include:

  • Attitude – professional, dependable, and committed
  • Accountability – taking ownership of actions and outcomes
  • Planning and organisation – managing priorities and complex workloads
  • Strong communication skills – clear and confident engagement
  • Trust and public interaction – working responsibly with communities
  • Teamwork and leadership – contributing to and leading teams
  • Operational skills – practical experience in live environments

These qualities are applied daily across our industry and reinforce the value ex-service personnel bring to employers and teams.

Careers With Progression and Purpose

Across our sectors, many ex-military professionals have built long and rewarding careers. These roles offer structure, responsibility, and progression – familiar foundations for those transitioning from service.

Careers in our industry also offer purpose. The work protects communities and infrastructure, supports environmental standards, and addresses real-world challenges where military experience adds value from day one.
