Skilled Dustcart Driver
Location: Kensington Gardens, London
Hourly Rate: £16.99
Contract Type: 6 months fixed-term contract (April-September)
Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm. Some weekend working may be required but this is to be discussed at interview.
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, safety‑conscious Dustcart Driver to join our team working within the iconic surroundings of Kensington Gardens. This role is essential in keeping the historic green spaces clean, safe, and welcoming for millions of visitors each year.
As a Dustcart Driver, you will be responsible for the safe operation of refuse collection vehicles, supporting grounds maintenance across the park and ensuring the smooth continuation of green waste collection and disposal whilst the park’s Leaf Yard is undergoing renovations.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate dustcarts and other waste‑management vehicles within Greenwich Park and between waste sites.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance needs.
- Support waste collection, recycling processes, and general park cleanliness.
- Work closely with grounds teams and park staff to maintain high standards of presentation.
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety guidelines and operational procedures.
- Provide excellent service and maintain a professional attitude when interacting with park users and colleagues.
Requirements
- Valid UK HGV Class 2 driving licence.
- CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) preferred.
- Experience driving dustcarts or similar heavy goods vehicles.
- Strong awareness of health & safety procedures.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Good communication skills and a positive, team‑focused approach.
