Job Summary
The VP Accounting, North America will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling the finance, accounting and cash related activities of the company and responsibility for compliance with financial reporting and auditing requirements, ensuring the financial systems comply with all regulations The VP Accounting will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to report on financial operations and analyze the impact that important business decisions will have on the company’s finances.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Act as a strategic business partner to the executive leadership team, provide insight and recommendations.
Identify, acquire and implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information.
Determine accounting and tax implications for all material business decisions.
Implement policies, procedures, and processes as deemed appropriate by the executive leadership team
Responsible for the Accounting Department annual budget and forecast, and forecasts for specific items (bad debt expense, accounting adjustments to operating system revenue, deferred customer acquisition costs, damage claims, cash flow)
Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls, and financial procedures.
Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting data.
Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial reporting to Group (MMA)
Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state and federal tax returns.
Oversee the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating iInefficiencies.
Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger and balance sheet accounts,
Assure conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with IFRS particularly in relation to complex transactions
Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; manage preparation and support of all external audits.
Manage the cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability and the maintenance of minimum required cash balances.
Maintain corporate banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners.
Mentor and develop the team, managing work allocation, systems training, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective and efficient team dynamic.
Guide larger, cross-divisional teams outside of direct span of control within the company
CANDIDATE SUMMARY
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree
10 years of related work experience managing accounting functions and groups Lead and direct the work of others
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Superb mathematics, analytical and budgeting skills
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Problem solving and decision making skills
Strong understanding of tax regulations, compliance and internal controls

Outstanding communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels with a range of internal and external stakeholders including customers, employees, analysts, regulators, government bodies and suppliers as required.
Able to demonstrate high levels of drive, work ethic and personal accountability with the ability to work under pressure while maintaining sound judgement and a rigorous focus on the details.
Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal and writing skills. Must have proven success leading/mentoring teams.
