Position Summary
The Engineering Intern will support the Engineering and Maintenance teams by helping populate, validate, and organize data within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The intern will work closely with engineers, maintenance technicians, and supervisors to ensure equipment, preventive maintenance, and spare parts data are accurate, complete, and aligned with best practices.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in building and populating the CMMS asset hierarchy (equipment, systems, sub-systems)
- Collect, verify, and enter equipment data such as:
- Asset names, descriptions, locations, and tags
- Manufacturer information, model numbers, serial numbers
- Criticality and operational details
- Support the creation and data entry of Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks and schedules based on:
- OEM manuals and drawings
- Existing maintenance procedures
- Input from maintenance technicians and engineers
- Organize and upload supporting documentation into the CMMS, including:
- Manuals, drawings, SOPs, and photos
- Assist with spare parts and Bill of Materials (BOM) data entry, including part numbers, descriptions, and supplier information
- Validate existing CMMS data for accuracy, consistency, and completeness
- Perform field walkdowns with maintenance or engineering staff to verify equipment data
- Follow CMMS data standards and naming conventions
- Help identify data gaps, inconsistencies, or improvement opportunities within the CMMS
- Prepare basic reports or spreadsheets to track data entry progress and data quality
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma, required.
- Currently enrolled in an Engineering program (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic understanding of mechanical and/or electrical equipment
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets (Excel or similar tools)
- Ability to follow standardized processes and naming conventions
- Willingness to spend time in the field as well as at a desk
- Ability to read equipment manuals
