Newell Brands is a leading $8.3B consumer products company with a portfolio of iconic brands such as Graco®, Coleman®, Oster®, Rubbermaid® and Sharpie®, and 25,000 talented employees around the world. Our high-performance culture, unparalleled curiosity about the world around us, and talented people fuel our success. Our culture is enabled through our core values which guide all we do and how we win as One Newell. They are Integrity, Teamwork, Passion for Winning, Ownership & Leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, pursue, and manage public subsidies, investment incentives, and tax advantage programs relevant to Newell's manufacturing, DC, and procurement footprint — including EU structural funds, national industrial policy programs, and regional economic development vehicles.
- Build and maintain relationships with ministries, regional authorities, economic development agencies, prefectures, and industrial policy bodies; serve as Newell's primary contact for inbound and outbound government engagement.
- Monitor the regulatory and policy landscape (environmental, labor, trade, customs, planning) for developments that affect supply chain and procurement operations; translate policy signals into actionable guidance for internal stakeholders.
- Support site-level regulatory compliance and permitting by coordinating with government counterparts and advising operations teams on requirements and timelines.
- Coordinate public-private negotiations — funding committees, letters of support, MoUs — and manage documentation and follow-through required to close.
- Engage with strategic suppliers where government programs, regulatory requirements, or policy developments create shared risk or opportunity; serve as a resource to Procurement on navigating the public environment.
- Brief senior leadership on government relations priorities, subsidy pipeline status, and regulatory risks; prepare concise materials for executive and board-level audiences.
- Represent Newell in relevant industry associations, chambers of commerce, and multi-stakeholder forums as appropriate.
- As the role matures, extend geographic coverage to other EMEA markets with significant GPSN presence.
Qualifications
- 5–8 years of experience in government affairs, institutional relations, investment promotion, or industrial project management — ideally with exposure to both public sector and private sector environments.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder public processes and drive outcomes (subsidy approvals, regulatory decisions, site permitting) on behalf of a private sector organization.
- Direct experience working with French national and regional government institutions required; familiarity with EU funding mechanisms and broader European regulatory frameworks strongly preferred.
- Background in or meaningful exposure to manufacturing, supply chain, or procurement operations — sufficient to credibly represent Newell's interests with technical and operational counterparts.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication in French and English; additional European language a plus.
- Comfort operating in a lean, accountability-driven environment with limited administrative support — this role owns execution, not just strategy.
What Success Looks Like
- Subsidy and incentive capture that generates measurable financial benefit to Newell's EMEA supply chain and procurement footprint.
- Proactive identification of regulatory risks before they become operational disruptions.
- A network of credible government relationships that opens doors and accelerates project timelines across both owned operations and the strategic supplier base.
- Trusted advisor status with GPSN leadership on all matters touching government and policy.
