Sales Manager

About the Unit
Yara Malaysia, established in 2007, partners with farmers and dealers nationwide to drive sustainable growth in key crops like oil palm and cash crops. Committed to regenerative agriculture, the team supports productivity, soil health, and community development through innovative solutions and initiatives like the Oil Palm Yara Academy for Smallholders (OPYAS).
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the national sales strategy aligned with Yara Malaysia's short and long-term business objectives.
- Translate business objectives into actionable sales plans, budgets, forecasts and performance targets.
- Drive profitable revenue growth, margin improvement and market share expansion across all assigned crop segments.
- Monitor sales performance against plans and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Lead annual sales planning, forecasting and budgeting processes.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, strategic accounts and growth segments.
- Lead, coach and develop Area commercial team to deliver business objectives.
- Foster a high-performance culture based on Yara’s core values.
- Develop team regular performance reviews, talent assessments, coaching and succession planning activities.
- Develop team capabilities in value-based selling, negotiation, account management and digital tools.
- Drive implementation of Yara Crop Nutrition Program through demonstration plots, field trials, crop clinics, plantation visits, farmer meetings, field days and technical events. SM plans / leads but not involve in the detailed execution.
- Drive successful execution of marketing campaigns, product launches, branding activities and channel development programs to strengthen Yara’s market position and customer loyalty.
- Build and strengthen strategic relationships with key business partners.
- Develop joint business plans with business partners to achieve growth targets.
- Ensure effective implementation of channel partnership programs and customer development initiatives.
- Lead commercial negotiations including pricing, trading terms, contracts and annual agreements.
- Monitor partner performance and implement improvement initiatives where required.
- Monitor competitor activities, market trends, commodity prices, farmer economics and industry developments.
- Provide regular market intelligence and strategic recommendations to management.
- Evaluate market opportunities, risks and emerging trends.
- Utilize insights to develop growth strategies and improve commercial effectiveness.
- Promote integrated crop nutrition solutions that improve customer productivity, profitability and sustainability.
- Ensure customers receive technical and commercial support through collaboration with Agronomy teams.
- Champion farmer-centric approaches that create measurable value for customers.
- Support adoption of digital farming tools and data-driven decision making.
- Work closely with the Country Manager to establish and manage pricing strategy.
- Ensure achievement of sales & profitability and targets.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory authorities.
- Ensure accurate sales forecasting and supply planning processes.
- Drive continuous improvement in sales processes, customer service and commercial execution.
- Ensure timely submission of reports and maintenance of CRM and commercial databases.
- Build productive relationships with industry associations, government agencies, research institutions, universities and strategic partners.
- Represent Yara at industry events, conferences and stakeholder meetings.
Safety, Ethics & Compliance
- Champion Yara's Safety First culture and HESQ standards.
- Ensure compliance with Yara Code of Conduct, Ethics & Compliance requirements and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Promote responsible fertilizer stewardship and sustainability principles throughout commercial activities.
- Ensure business partners adhere to Yara's compliance requirements.
Profile
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Science, Crop Science, Plant Nutrition, Business Management or related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of commercial experience within agriculture, crop nutrition, agri-inputs, plantation or related industries.
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience managing multi-location sales teams.
- Proven successful track record in sales management, business development and channel management.
- Experience in fertilizer, specialty nutrition, crop protection, plantation or agricultural solutions businesses is an advantage.
- Proven successful track record in channel management.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of Malaysian agriculture industry.
- Sound knowledge of agronomy & plant nutrition.
- Understanding of CRM systems, sales analytics and digital agriculture technologies.

Other Requirements

- Based in PJ office.
Additional Information

- Combination of office-based work and field visits.
- Regular travel throughout Malaysia, including remote agricultural areas.
- Exposure to outdoor agricultural environments and varying weather conditions.
- Participation in field demonstrations, crop inspections and customer visits.
- Occasional requirement to work outside standard business hours to support business activities and customer needs.
- Compliance with Yara Health, Environment, Safety, Quality and Security (HESQ) standards is mandatory.
- Frequent driving and travel requiring physical mobility and stamina.
