We are seeking a high-calibre Senior Key Account Manager to lead the strategic direction, growth and retention of our national accounts’ portfolio within an assigned vertical market/sector. This role will see the Senior Key Account Manager responsible for the Account Management of some of our largest clients within the vertical market, and they will also be responsible for the leadership of a small team of Key Account Managers.
Whilst leading a small team and taking responsibility for a portfolio of high-value contracts across the UK, you will encourage a collaborative culture across functional heads, and C-suite stakeholders, while ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional service and customer value.
Your Mission at Elis
- Leadership & Development: Lead, coach and mentor a high-performing team; instil accountability, a growth mindset, and collaboration.
- Strategic Account Leadership: Drive performance across the allocated national account(s), ensuring strong service delivery, profitability, and longterm growth.
- Growth within Existing Accounts: Identify and execute upsell and expansion opportunities and proactively manage risk and retention strategies with the team.
- Customer-Centric Engagement: Build compelling value propositions; lead high-impact and high risk customer negotiations that balance commercial outcomes with customer satisfaction.
- Operational & Commercial Integration: Partner closely with operations to align service delivery with contractual commitments; not just commercial— fully integrated thinking.
- Financial Ownership: Full P&L responsibility for the sector/vertical market budget; manage forecasting, financial modelling, and the impact of customer demands on margin.
- Data-Driven: Interpret complex data, model commercial scenarios, and deliver a narrative that inspires both customers and internal teams.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a linchpin across the business—driving alignment with GMs, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams.
- Project Management: Oversee the delivery of strategic customer initiatives and projects, ensuring scope, timelines, and commercial objectives are met.
- Debt, DSO & Contract Oversight: Ensure tight control over contract performance, cash flow, and service delivery KPIs

- Proven experience managing large strategic key accounts
- Strong strategic and operational acumen—you can zoom in and out as needed.
- Excellent negotiation and commercial judgement with a strong understanding of P&L and budgetary control.
- Advanced Excel skills—can interpret data and model complex scenarios.
- Inspirational leadership— align diverse stakeholders and bring people on the journey.
- Demonstrable ability to coach and develop teams to high performance.
- High adaptability in communication style—influences effectively across all levels.
- Strong project and contract management background.
- Deeply customer-focused with a passion for building lasting partnerships
- A degree in Business, Marketing, Management, Economics, Communications, or a related field.
- Useful certifications include CIM, ILM, PRINCE2, PMP, or training in account management or sales leadership.
- Comfortable using CRM systems, project management tools, and data analysis software
