Seed Co is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented, and strategic individual to join our organization as the Commercial Director.
The incumbent will be based in Lusaka, Zambia. This position will report to the Managing Director and will be responsible for
driving profitable growth for Seed Co and must possess proven experience in the agricultural and commercial sectors.
Duties and responsibilities
• Develop and implement the commercial strategy to drive revenue growth and meet business objectives.
• Analyse competitor activity and develop effective strategies to capitalize on market trends and opportunities.
• Collaborate with the senior management team to align commercial activities with overall company goals.
• Monitor market trends, farmer insights, and customer feedback to inform business strategy.
• Lead the sales forecasting process and achieve pre-defined sales targets for assigned product categories and
geographic territories.
• Optimize promotional campaigns to maximize profitability and business growth.
• Identify new business opportunities, potential clients, and partnerships.
• Manage the product and support services portfolios, ensuring alignment with market trends, demands, and customer
expectations.
• Work closely with product development teams to launch new products.
Qualifications and skills required
Applicant must possess the following:
• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
• MBA or relevant post-graduate qualifications.
• Minimum of 5 year at a Sales & Marketing strategic leadership level. Agri-business experience will be an added
advantage.
• Experience in managing large teams and cross-functional projects.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strategic thinking with an ability to execute plans effectively.
• Member of a Zambia-affiliated association e.g. Zambia Institute of Marketing, will be an added advantage
