Seasonal Tractor Operative
Location: Norwich
Hourly rate: £12.71
Contract Type: Seasonal, 6 months fixed-term contract until end of October
Working hours: Full Time, Mon-Fri 7:00-16:30
About the Role
We’re looking for a skilled and reliable Tractor Operator to join our Grounds Maintenance team, working across multiple sites in the Norwich area. This is a hands-on, outdoor role involving the operation of a small tractor for grass cutting during the growing season, alongside general grounds maintenance duties. The tractor will be transported between sites on a trailer, so previous towing experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate tractor-mounted mowing equipment across sites and associated land.
- Carry out verge cutting, field cutting, and large-area mowing using tractor attachments.
- Conduct site checks before mowing and remove or report hazards to ensure safe operation.
- Use hand tools such as pruning saws to remove low branches or other obstacles.
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on tractors and equipment.
- Ensure safe machinery use at all times, especially on active school sites.
- Travel between multiple school locations as part of the scheduled work plan.
- Report any defects, damage, or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
- Maintain machinery cleanliness and functionality.
Essential Requirements
- Lantra trained or experience of operating Tractors & Towing Attachments is essential.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong understanding of health and safety practices.
- Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
- Reliability and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working on school sites or public sector contracts
- General grounds maintenance experience (beneficial for winter duties)
